In Waalwijk they have been working hard to make a sports park climate-adaptive. Due to periods of drought and heavy rainfall the condition of a number of sports fields is not optimal. NPI, through our contractor Joosten Groep, contributed to the renovation of an artificial turf field.
We installed approximately 8500 m2 of LDPE 1.00 mm on the field. We delivered this in four panels, which our welding team welded together on site. Finally, we also installed a number of outlets. Since the LDPE 1.00 mm is a heavy film, fortunately there were quite a few helpers present when pulling in the film. Joosten installed a polypropylene fleece that serves as a pressure divider and that protects the film from sharp elements.
The LDPE film creates waterproof basins under the field, which allow excess water to be collected under the field and used to irrigate the field during dry periods. Drainage and water infiltration are also installed. Everything to optimise water management at this soccer field. Another great water management project with Joosten!
