(Leaf) crops are increasingly grown on water in greenhouses. This hydroponic growing method allows year-round cultivation, in a sustainable way and with constant quality. In hydroponics, growing trays are covered with film and then filled with water.
NPI has extensive experience in manufacturing liners for various types of water basins. Our expertise also comes in handy for hydroponic greenhouses. For example, we lined several water reservoirs in hydroponic greenhouses for a renowned grower in southern England. First, the bottoms of the trays were lined with a protective geotextile, then we lined the trays with LDPE film. This created watertight cultivation gutters.
For water supply, connections were placed in the sides of the basins and we installed drain pipes in the bottom for dewatering.
