Two characteristic squares in a Brabant town were recently redesigned. Demolished houses were replaced and the sewer system and infrastructure were modified.
Part of the new layout is the installation of two buffer fields under the pavement. These buffer fields consist of plastic crates, which serve to store and infiltrate rainwater from the paving. On behalf of Joosten Group, our welding team covered the crate fields with a PVC film to create watertight reservoirs. We delivered the film prefabricated and welded the film on site. We also installed a number of connections in the fields.
The water is stored in the reservoirs and can be discharged into the sewer system in a delayed manner. This reduces the water pressure in the sewer system during heavy rainfall. It is also possible to reuse the stored water for irrigation of vegetation, for example.
